Stavanger Maritime Museum

Stavanger maritime museum is located in old seafront warehouses and merchant buildings in Vågen, the quay in the city centre of Stavanger.

Museum of Archaeology

The Museum of Archaeology is sited in beautiful and central locations in Stavanger. Our exhibitions and other activities provide knowledge and understanding of pre-historic man and the interaction between mankind and nature.

Norwegian Petroleum Museum

The Norwegian Petroleum Museum was opened on 20 May 1999. In Norwegian language the museum is called Norsk Oljemuseum. The unusual architecture has made the museum a landmark in the Port of Stavanger. Seen from the sea the museum looks like a small oil platform. The museum focuses on offshore petroleum activity especially in the North Sea.

Norwegian Printing Museum

Norwegian Printing Museum (Norsk Grafisk Museum) was established in 1991. Stavanger has always been a center of gravity in the Norwegian printing industry. The museum is located on Bjergsted in Stavanger, and is housed in an old canning stock dating from 1913. The premises are renovated and restored to original condition. Norwegian Printing Museum was officially opened on 23 October 1993.

Flyhistorisk Museum

Flyhistorisk Museum, Sola (Sola Aviation Museum) is an aviation museum located in Stavanger Airport, Sola, near Stavanger, Norway. The museum was founded in 1984, and is run by local volunteers. Flyhistorisk Museum, Sola went into cooperation with Jærmuseet in January 2012. The collection of the museum is mainly centred on local history, with remains from several aircraft being on display…

The Norwegian Children`s Museum

Norwegian Children’s Museum (Norsk Barnemuseum) began as a private foundation and opened doors to the public 24 November 2001. The museum is located in the Stavanger Cultural Centre on Arneageren.

Valbergtarnet

Valberg Tower is the old watchtower and watchmens’ museum at the top of the hill behind the colourful waterfront sea houses. In 1853 the tower was the the highest point in the town and used to warn of fires. Beside the tower is a small playground and a lovely cafe.

Swords in Rock

 Swords in Rock is a commemorative monument located in the Hafrsfjord neighborhood of Madla, a borough of the city of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway. The monument was created by sculptor Fritz Røed from Bryne and was unveiled by king Olav V of Norway in 1983. The three bronze swords stand 10 metres (33 ft) tall and are planted into the rock of a small hill next to the fjord. They commemorate the historic Battle of Hafrsfjord that took place there in the year 872, when King Harald Fairhair gathered all of Norway under one crown.

Stavanger Cathedral

Stavanger Cathedral is Norway’s oldest cathedral and the seat of the Bishop of Stavanger who leads the Diocese of Stavanger. It is located in the city of Stavanger in Rogaland County, Norway. The church is situated in the centre of the city, in the borough of Storhaug. The church is part of the “Stavanger domkirke” parish in the Stavanger arch-deanery in the Diocese of Stavanger.
